Integrating Spiritual Practices in Your Client’s Recovery Journey
Many Christian clients can feel wary about recovery work that falls outside their normal faith traditions. Others even feel an unspoken guilt or shame that their relationship with Jesus has proven insufficient for addressing their sexual struggles. This conversational breakout will discuss how integrating ancient Christian practices into clients’ recovery work can help improve client-clinician trust, increase faith, reduce shame, and open clients more deeply to Christ in these sensitive and difficult areas of their lives.
Learning objectives:
1. Participants will gain confidence in Christianity’s historic understanding of the complexity of the human person and therefore the attuned care required for deep, authentic life change.
2. Participants will be able identify and integrate traditional Christian spiritual practices into their clinical work with Christian clients.
3. This workshop is designed to help you increase trust with clients who, due to their religious backgrounds, exhibit resistance to therapeutic language or methodologies.
