This presentation helps counselors and ministry leaders support Christian parents of LGBTQ-identified children. Drawing from over 12 years of experience, the session will discuss the painful, faith-testing journey parents face and offer practical insights for navigating this challenge. Key principles include: facing spiritual disappointment, gaining a proper perspective, and loving their child as God does. Learn how to help parents balance love and truth while co-laboring with God in His pursuit of their child’s heart.

Learning objectives:

1. Participants will be able to identify the emotional and spiritual challenges that Christian parents face when their child embraces an LGBTQ+ identity, and understand the tensions between love, faith, and biblical truth.
2. Participants will learn key principles for effectively ministering to parents, including how to engage with God, support parents in their role, and trust in God’s equipping and transformation.
3. Participants will gain practical tools and strategies to help parents remain grounded in God’s love and truth while navigating the complexities of their child’s journey.

Melinda provides parent support for His Wonderful Works, Inc., is host of the award-winning podcast – The Bridge Between Us, author of The Daring Rescue: Joining Jesus Christ In His Pursuit Of Your LGBTQ-Identified Child’s Heart and serves on the board of directors for Restored Hope Network. She is an international speaker who speaks at family conferences, church ministry events, and parent groups to equip families and the church to love well while not compromising Truth.
