PLENARY: The Problem of Sin
Its Impact on Healing and the Gospel-Centered Path to Recovery
In addressing sexual issues, Christian counselors, coaches, and pastors face a profound challenge: sin. Sin is not only the root cause of brokenness but also a significant barrier to true recovery, healing, and relational repair. This talk explores the critical need to confront the reality of sin while applying the gospel for transformational purposes in the lives of those we serve.
Focusing on the integration of biblical truth into counseling and ministry, we’ll discuss the dangers of relying solely on techniques or human understanding. Instead, the session will emphasize the importance of recognizing Christ as the ultimate source of change and restoration. Attendees will learn how to function as instruments in the Redeemer’s hands, pointing those they help to the power of grace and redemption.
Through practical insights, scriptural foundations, and examples from real-life ministry contexts, participants will leave equipped to navigate the complexities of sexual brokenness with both compassion and theological clarity.
Key Scriptures:
- The Reality of Sin: Romans 3:23, James 1:14-15.
- The Gospel’s Transformative Power: 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 6:6-7.
- The Role of the Helper: Galatians 6:1-2, 2 Timothy 2:24-26.
Learning objectives:
1. Participants will be able to discern how sin’s effects manifest in sexual issues and impede healing and recovery.
2. Participants will understand how to integrate the transformative power of the gospel into counseling and ministry for lasting change.
3. Participants will learn to to see themselves as instruments of God’s grace, fostering humility and dependence on the Holy Spirit in their work.
