Women, Porn, & The Church
This presentation will share recent Barna statistics on porn use among Christians, highlighting the struggles women face with shame from porn use or sexual betrayal. Participants will learn how to create safe spaces for women to discuss sex, porn, and seek help. Church leaders will be equipped to start conversations, provide support, and empower women to break free from shame. The Church has a unique opportunity to address the growing issue of porn use among women.
Learning objectives:
1. Participants will be able to demonstrate knowledge of pornography’s impact on Christians and how it affects both individual well-being and the broader Church community.
2. Participants will be able to outline practical next steps to support the 74% of Christian men and women who report they have nobody helping them avoid porn.
3. Participants will be able to create a safe, supportive environment within their church and bridge the gap between individuals and professional counseling services.
Ashley Jameson
Associate Director of Women’s Groups for Pure Desire Ministries
Since 2015, Ashley has been on staff at Pure Desire Ministries, helping churches launch groups for individuals struggling with compulsive sexual behavior and betrayal trauma. She has personally experienced teen pregnancy, sex and love addiction, and betrayal trauma. Ashley became frustrated with the generic church responses —suggesting that everything would improve if she had more faith. Unafraid to tackle difficult topics, she advocates for the voiceless and creates safe spaces for honest, vulnerable conversations within the Christian community. Her work empowers others to break free from addiction and shame, build healthy intimacy, and embrace the life God has for them. Ashley is a Certified Pastoral Sex Addiction Professional and is trained in the Multidimensional Partner Trauma Model. She is also a contributing author to Unraveled, Betrayal & Beyond, and Authentically You. She co-hosts the podcast UnFiltered: Real Talk About Sex & Love where she and co-host Heather have candid, no-judgment conversations about sex, relationships, and healing.
