Sexual Integrity Leaders promotes a biblical and holistic vision of sexuality, relationships, and the human person. We believe that God created human sexuality with divine purpose and intentionality and calls us to steward this gift throughout our lives with similar purpose, care, and holiness. The seven clauses below define our understanding of and approach to sexual issues.
1. God created human beings in His image and likeness as male and female and imbued them with equal worth and dignity.
2. God created sexuality for the procreation of children, marital bonding, and mutual delight. Accordingly, He reserves sexual intimacy for the covenant of one-man, one-woman marriage.
3. Human sexuality also serves as an earthly image of God’s eternal, divine love and, as such, is worthy of even greater honor and care.
4. Every human being suffers from sexual brokenness due to original sin, our own sinful choices, and sexual sins committed against us, including the daily influence of living in a pornographic culture.
5. Sexual sins are not weightier or graver than other sins, although they uniquely harm our understanding of sex, the body, relationships, love, and God.
6. Jesus offers forgiveness, healing, and transformation through His shed blood on the cross and the ministry of his Holy Spirit. How he heals is unique for each person.
7. The Christian community has a calling to proclaim and live toward sexual integrity through ongoing transformation in Christ, even though some sexual sins and wounds may not be fully healed in this life.
